It’s comically coincidental that my buddy Justus’s birthday is the day after Valentine’s Day (or, as he prefers to put it, V-Day is “Justus’s-birthday-eve”). On the one hand, you have a day dedicated to mutual love and intimacy (forget all the corporate-manufactured not-a-real-holiday crap for a minute). Then follow that up with a day that exemplefies the greatest disappointment of all humanity. And, even better, this year it’s followed by President’s Day. It’s like a tour of our society’s low and high points, with everything else in-between.

Happy birthday, pal! One more year of mediocrity under your belt before you die!
